Abby Martinez

PTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Abby was raised in McLemoresville, TN, a small town in Carroll County where everyone seems to know everyone. She attended West Carroll High School before attending Jackson State Community College. She completed dual-credit courses during high school, followed by two years of prerequisites and two years in the PTA program, where she earned her degree.

She is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with experience in both acute care and long-term rehabilitation settings. Her time working with the geriatric population in long-term care helped her discover her passion for this area and solidified her desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults.

Something Patients Have to Deal With That Abby Wants to Fix

Abby wants to provide treatment for as many sessions as medically necessary to support meaningful recovery and help patients achieve their highest level of function, rather than being constrained by predetermined limits or administrative decisions.

She is a Physical Therapist Assistant at GeriHab, where she provides hands-on care to wonderful patients with a variety of conditions. She works closely with each patient to improve their strength, mobility, and overall function while helping them work toward greater independence and an improved quality of life.

Conditions Abby Enjoys Treating

Abby wouldn’t say she has a particular condition she specializes in, but she especially enjoys helping her patients improve their functional balance and overall stability to promote greater safety and independence.

What Does Abby Like About Working Here?

Abby really enjoys the one-on-one treatment sessions provided at GeriHab. She feels that this gives the team enough time to adequately focus on each patient’s goals while allowing her, as their therapist, to provide her undivided attention rather than splitting it between multiple patients.

What Does Abby Enjoy Doing When She Is Not Working?

Abby enjoys spending quality time with her family and her dog, as well as exploring flea markets and antique stores to find unique treasures. She also enjoys attending sporting events and cheering on her favorite teams. These activities allow her to relax, spend time with the people she loves, and enjoy new experiences.

During an ISP meeting today, the conservator wanted me and the other team members to know “what a breath of fresh air” Abby and Lisa were from her observation and from what she’d been told of these two therapists. The conservator wanted me to know what a great job she felt they were doing in serving our population.
