One on One Treatment in Tennessee
Every visit is a full block of time with your own therapist. Not a circuit you share with three other people and an aide holding a clipboard.

What is a one on one treatment session?
If you have had therapy somewhere before, you may remember it like this: a therapist starts you on something, disappears to the next person, and an aide counts your reps while you stare at the ceiling. That is not what happens here. A treatment session in Tennessee at GeriHab runs 30 to 60 minutes and it belongs to you and one licensed physical therapist for the whole of it. Most plans of care run two to three visits a week for four to six weeks, and it is the same therapist each time, so nothing has to be re-explained at the door.
This is the ongoing half of our physical therapy service, the part that follows your initial evaluation. The session moves through our four phases as you do: Pain first, to calm things enough to work honestly. Then Prime, to get back the range and the muscle activation the pain switched off. Then Perform, where we load it, because stairs and grocery bags do not care how you felt at rest. Then Prevent, so what you rebuilt is still there next winter.
Why one on one, and not a shared room.
Shared therapy is cheaper to run. It is not cheaper for you, because the three things that make a session work all need somebody watching.
The correction happens in the moment
A squat done with the knee drifting in is not the same exercise as a squat done well. Ten of the wrong one is worse than none. Someone has to be close enough to catch it on the second repetition rather than at the next visit.
Your therapist sees the change
Progress in an older body shows up in small things: a steadier turn, less hand on the counter, standing without rocking forward twice first. You do not notice those. The person who has watched you every visit does, and adjusts before the plan goes stale.
Progression is a judgment call
Adding weight or taking it away is decided by how you moved today, not by what a printed sheet says week three should look like. That decision needs a licensed physical therapist in the room, watching, not a schedule pinned to a wall.
Inside a treatment session.
The order stays the same from week to week. What fills each part changes as you get stronger, which is the entire point of having a therapist there.
Reassess before anything else
Your therapist asks how the last few days went and rechecks whatever was worst: the range, the sore movement, the stairs. Two minutes of that decides the shape of the next fifty, so the session fits the week you actually had rather than the one on the schedule.
Hands on the problem
Skilled manual work on the joints and tissue that are limiting you, with a stated reason behind each technique. This is where a stiff hip or a guarded shoulder gets opened up enough that the strengthening you do next can reach it.
Load it, then update the home plan
You do the working part of the session under supervision, at whatever load you have earned. Then your home program gets changed to match. A home program that never changes is a sign nobody has been watching.
You do not need a referral to start in Tennessee, direct access covers up to 90 days without a prescription, and we will verify your insurance benefits before your first visit. Wear loose clothing you can move in.
This is the absolute best physical therapy that I've ever been to. I highly recommend if you have any pain, make an appointment Alyssa is the best, they are all good.
