Start a Geriatric Practice in Tennessee

This page is written for therapists, not for patients. It is the GeriHab training program for clinicians who want to build a geriatric practice of their own.

01What It Covers

What is the GeriHab practice program?

First, a note for patients: this page is about training clinicians, not about treatment. If you came here looking for care, start with physical therapy or geriatric physical therapy instead. Everything below is written for therapists. You went to school to treat people, not to run a business, and nobody taught the second half. So the capable clinician stays employed, quietly absorbs the hardest cases on the schedule, and never builds the practice they can already picture. This program is the half nobody taught, delivered by Dr. Michael Chua, PT, DPT, the clinician behind GeriHab and its five clinics across West Tennessee.

It runs across two days. Day one is a live online Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar, seven CEU hours, presented with Lizette Cloete, OTR, and it is the course required to become a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Day two is five hours of group coaching with Dr. Chua: finding your niche using the M.E.N.T.O.R. method, publishing a book to build real influence in that niche, and a startup checklist for a mobile, assisted living, or brick and mortar geriatric practice. It finishes where most business courses stop short, on your website, your brochures and your business cards.

02Who It's For

Who this program is for.

Not every therapist should own a practice, and this is not a room full of hype. It is for clinicians who already know they want to work with older adults and need an operating plan to go with the clinical skill.

01

Therapists ready to go out on their own

You have the hands and the referral relationships. What stops you is the paperwork, the positioning, and not knowing what order to do things in. The startup checklist covers mobile, assisted living and brick and mortar, so you can pick the model that fits your market and your budget.

02

Owners who never picked a niche

A practice that treats everyone competes with everyone. M.E.N.T.O.R. walks through meeting a real need, educating your community, networking, building a team of winners, one on one coaching, and turning single visits into recurring revenue.

03

Clinicians who want to be the local authority

Authority is built, not assigned. Dr. Chua has published four books on dementia care, and the coaching day covers how to write and publish yours, so families, facilities and referral sources know your name before they ever meet you.

03How It Runs

How the two days run.

The certification comes first so the business work has something real to sell. Then the plan, then the collateral that makes the plan visible.

01

Day one: the dementia seminar

A one day live online Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar, seven CEU hours, presented with Lizette Cloete, OTR. It is the course required to become a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and it gives you a credential most clinics competing for the same referrals will not have.

02

Day two: five hours of coaching

Five hours of group coaching with Dr. Chua on the M.E.N.T.O.R. method, on publishing your book, and on the startup checklist for a mobile, assisted living or brick and mortar practice. You leave with the sequence written down instead of a vague sense of what comes next.

03

Then the build

The last block is the part patients and referral sources actually see: your website, your brochures, your business cards, and the wording that goes on them. Marketing is where most new clinics stall, so it gets handled in the room rather than left as homework.
